My Story

I’m the grand-daughter of Italian immigrants who turned a dream of coming to America for a better life into a reality. Even when experiencing the loss of their business and homes, like so many others during the Great Depression, they never questioned their decision to come to America.

My family has served its country well. Both of my grandfathers (World War I), father (World War II), and husband (Vietnam) all served in the Army. My eldest son felt compelled to join the Marines after 9/11 and served 2 tours in Iraq.

My faith and family roots have been instrumental in molding me into the person I am today. My personal life experiences have afforded me grace, understanding, and compassion for those of limited means, and appreciation for all professions including trades and service providers.

While growing up in Johnson County, I watched as the city limits grew from 95th street, to 103rd street and beyond. I frequently made trips out to the country (to Louisburg!) to visit family. I moved to Kansas City, Kansas, after marrying and resided there for close to 40 years. My husband and I fell in love with Paola - the small-town feel, diversity, countryside and beautiful neighborhoods - and decided to move to Miami County close to seven years ago. It’s now a place we call home!

During my professional career as an administrative professional, I found myself missing out on advancement opportunities since I did not have a college degree. With the support of my family, I earned an Associates Degree in Marketing and Mid-management from Kansas City Kansas Community College while working full time and raising our family.  I worked for a variety of companies from service providers to major manufacturing companies (both union and non-union.) I found it easy to adapt to each new culture, did what was necessary to get the job done, and worked hard to prove myself as an integral player in each employer’s success.

My husband and I have been married for close to 50 years. I’m the mother of grown children, mother-in-law to two wonderful ladies, and Nonna to one beautiful granddaughter. My family means the world to me. Concern and worry for their future, and for your families as well, is the driving force in my decision to want to serve. I’ve never shied away from hard work. I am up for the challenge and am committed to serving the residents of District 6 and Kansans across the state.
